Join Ju Ju 'Burriwee' Wilson at our Cleanskin Camp on Kachana Pastoral Station for one of the most unique and remote cultural experiences found in the Kimberley. Ju Ju, a Mirriuwong elder, provides the visitor an opportunity to learn about native bush foods and medicinal plants. Co-author of a number of research publications, Ju Ju's knowledge and her willingness to share this information, provide a truely fascinating and educational experience. Your base for the next three days is the ecologically friendly Pioneer Cleanskin solar powered camp. With no sound other than that generated by nature, this general area is a haven for birds. The diverse habitat systems within walking distance of your camp range from creek and swamp systems to open savanna, woodland, sub-tropical refugia and gorge systems. Plan your own itinerary for a tour that takes you to the remote, eco solar powered Cleanskin Creek bush camp, only 30 minutes walk from gorges, waterfalls, dramatic geological landscapes and much more. The camp offers peace and tranquillity and your days can be planned around nature walks and bird-watching, exploring and swimming remote gorges, freshwater fishing (restricted) learning about bush foods and bush medicines with an Aboriginal guide, exploring the archaeological and historical past of the area with resident archaeologist or even assist with any of the research or resource management projects that may be in place at the time of your visit. |
Take the opportunity to join the Kachana Pastoral Station stock camp in their land-management cattle work. Follow the herd on foot, along the old Bedford Stock Route valley, as the herd is used to revitalise the landscape, by pruning, mulching and fertilising. This creates healthier vegetation, more effectively able to capture rain. This nomadic lifestyle offers long and tranquil days, spectacular countryside and unique geological formations, swimming, a comfortable swag and long glorious nights under a Kimberley star-filled night, sumptuous open camp-fire meals and an opportunity to learn from your experienced guide, stories of the early pastoral industry and the general history and archaeology of the area.
