The diverse habitat systems within walking distance of your camp range from creek and swamp systems to open savanna, woodland, sub-tropical refugia and gorge systems. These various ecological systems ensures the keen watcher will see a broad range of bird species. Steve is an expert on Kimberley bird calls and species habitats. He is currently undertaking a bird species count and monitoring programme on Kachana comparing results from areas under different landcare and resource management strategies. Kachana is an exciting challenge for the experienced bird watcher, and provides the opportunity for interested and concerned individuals to become involved in the 'Islands of Biodiversity' programme currently in place. |
