The Mitchell PlateauEco Cultural Rock Art Tour Experience |
Save our natural and cultural resources.
The Mitchell Plateau is a
remote, environmentally fragile and geologically spectacular part of the
Kimberley. The area is also rich in archaeological and cultural reminders of the
past.
Accompanied by an Aboriginal guide and an Archaeologist, we view spectacular Bradshaw and Wandjina art sites, visit "increase" sites where you will observe "ulu" anthropomorphic and animal figures.
An opportunity to spend two or three days with the Kandiwal community looking at rock art in and around the Mitchell Plateau.
The spectacular Mitchell falls and other parts of the area can be visited by
walking or taking a helicopter flight.
The Mitchell Plateau experience can be designed and focused around special
interest groups, academic interests, or a tour wanting a little of everything.
Kimberley Specialists have a full commitment to long term land care and environmental and cultural sustain ability, and as part of this commitment, a $25 per head per day 'enviro' levy is included in the tour cost. This is administered by a recognised land care group to go towards various environmental, cultural, research and land care projects in the Kimberley
