The Gibb River RoadEco Cultural Rock ArtTour Experience |
Save our natural and cultural resources.
The Gibb River Road cultural experience is designed to visit as many rock art sites as we can manage over the duration of the tour. A minimum of six days for this experience is recommended.
Accompanied by an Aboriginal cultural guide, the visitor travelling this Kimberley icon is able to experience the 4W/D drive thrill of adventure, swim in magnificent gorges, view majestic landscapes, sleep under a canopy of stars and still have an educational and cultural experience. Base camps are set up away from main stream tourism traffic and one or two nights are spent at each location. This means less time spent in setting up and more time accessing remote rock art sites.
The rock art throughout this tour ranges from the majestic and artistically dynamic Bradshaw paintings to a magnificent range of primitive anthropomorphic figures. The Gibb River Road also has a wonderful range of rock art which provides insight into the cultural and economic activities of the past. Some of the largest and most impressive increase sites in the Kimberley can be found along this icon of the Kimberley outback.
The itinerary for the Gibb River Road Cultural Experience can be as flexible as the client wishes, arrangements can always be made to stop at one of the many Aboriginal owned stations and communities, adding another perception to the full cultural experience.
Itineraries for following Gibb River Road / Mitchell Plateau experiences are designed around the needs of the client.
KST has a full commitment to long term land care and environmental and cultural sustainability, and as part of this commitment, a $25 per head 'enviro' levy is included in the tour cost. This is administered by a recognized landcare group to go towards various environmental, cultural and land care projects.
